How Do You Live Fully Into Joy?
In this time of concern, worry, and fear we have a choice – to live in fear, or to live in joy. I am choosing to fully engage with joy!
So much of our life is guided by our intentions. A couple of years ago I decided it was now time for living “happily ever after”. If not now, when? And so I began each day with the conscious intention of focusing on living joy fully.
On November 7, 2018 this message surfaced during my morning meditation:
I feel true joy surround me,
I feel true joy within me,
It is time to live in joy,
It is time to live, enjoy!
That set of affirmations became a magnet, drawing my attention to joy-filled moments throughout the day. Paying attention to what gave me joy redefined my understanding of joy and happiness, and it made joy a priority in my life.
What Gives You Joy?
Self-isolation, social-distancing, curfews, and changes in work and school schedules are creating a home-bound environment. It is a great opportunity to discover what gives you joy, to define what joy looks like in your life, and to live fully into joy.
Keep a Joy Journal to track how joy shows up in your life. At the close of the day, take note of when you felt joy:
- When did you notice yourself smiling?
- When did you feel yourself stirred by a special moment?
- When did you feel your heart captured with delight?
Begin to recognize what gives you joy. Then start your days with the intention to live more fully into those joyful moments, to make them a priority.
